BISHOP Rawstorne college has won a prestigious national award for its involvement with the local community.
The International Language College, Out Lane, Croston, along with 270 other colleges and schools from across the country, will receive the Schools Curriculum Award 2000 at a sparkling ceremony at London's Barbican Centre next June.
The award, made for a distinctive and valuable contribution to the community through the work of schools, attracted a record 411 submissions.
Two assessors visited the Croston school earlier this year to ensure they met the criteria set by the trustees.
George Lloyd, headteacher at Bishop Rawstorne, was delighted with the school's recognition.
He said: "The award is a national recognition and a celebration of our commitment to Lifelong Learning.
"We enjoy some outstanding facilities here at the college, and are delighted they are used as a community resource. As a Christian college, we are committed to service."
Local businesses as well as the wider community have benefited from the college's international links.
