INDIVIDUAL and team success was the reward for a determined display by cross country runners from King Edward VII and Queen Mary School in the Stanley Park series.
Pride of place went to the year 8 runners, with Emily Wildon running superbly to take second place in the girls' race, while Andrew Hodgson and Daniel Waller led the boys' team to a well deserved victory.
The first year boys' team had several runners making their debut, but the Lytham runners made light of the wet and heavy conditions to take second place.
A personal best by Matthew Appleby was the highlight in the senior race.
Lytham coach Jon Lees was impressed by the determination of his runners.
"There were some excellent performances," he said, "and we are looking forward to the next race on December 5.
"I am sure we can make a further improvement."
