BLACKPOOL businesses are being urged to improve their security in the run-up to Christmas after a break-in at a toy warehouse.
Thousands of pounds worth of toys were stolen from the David Halsall Toys warehouse on the Squires Gate Industrial Estate, Blackpool, in two nights.
Thieves made off with a container loaded with 400 toy go-karts from the warehouse on the night of November 19 by attaching it to an articulated lorry cab which they had stolen from nearby B and M Bargains.
The L-registered Scania lorry cab and container were found empty and abandoned three days later in Merseyside.
The following night a unit loaded with children's prams was stolen from the warehouse and another stolen lorry and a van full of toys and gifts were found abandoned nearby after it is believed the thieves were disturbed.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Ghafoor and DC Roe at Blackpool CID on (01253) 604018 or Crimestoppers on (0800) 555111.
