FOR the third time on the run Lancaster's under water polo team won the championship this week.
This was the hardest fought of the three campaigns and it was a nail biting climax to a long, hard season at weekend.
Lancaster were slight favourites before the weekend being two points ahead of Bristol and Polytechnic. But the title was secured before the final games with two victories on Saturday as Bristol dropped two points to Manchester and Poly lost out to Penguin on Sunday afternoon.
Lancaster won the crown in front of their own fans at Salt Ayre. They beat Tyldersley 16-4 and close challengers London Penguin 10-7 before seeing off London Polytechnic 13-10 to achieve a third National League Championship
