BLACKPOOL North and Fleetwood MP Joan Humble took time out on Friday (Nov 26) to visit one of her constituent's homes to support Warm Homes Week.
Ms Humble called in to see Mary Malia, in Marlborough Avenue, Thornton, to see how she had benefited from cavity wall insulation, paid for by a grant by the government's Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES).
The visit was one of more than 120 by MPs that were taking place across Britain to demonstrate how homes can be made warmer and cheaper to heat.
The National Energy Action charity arranged the event to raise awareness among MPs of the realities of fuel poverty in the country, and it promotes the benefits of energy efficiency for those on low incomes.
NEA director Andrea Cook said: "Every winter, fuel poverty takes a terrible toll on our most vulnerable friends, families and neighbours.
"But Thornton residents can alleviate the misery and health problems that result from living in cold, damp homes by taking advantage of grants available through us to the elderly and other people on low incomes."
