Ruskin Park 5 Moore 39 FOR the second week in succession, Ruskin suffered a heavy defeat, this time at the hands of ay fine Moore XV, whose three-quarter line is easily the best in the league. But a least this week, the side played with spirit, and competed throughout. No-one personified this more than Ste Flaherty, who was easily the best player on his side, and put in a tremendous stint for the whole 80 minutes.
But Ruskin were forced to play second fiddle and their only reply to an all out attacking display by the visitors, was a late Gary Smith try.
The Second XV fared even worse at Moore, and went down by the massive margin of 63-5, and this after they had opened the scoring in the first minute, with a try by Dave Birch senior.
The Third XV prevented a clean sweep with a thrilling 32-22 victory over Moore Thirds. Clinging on to a narrow three points lead, thanks in part to two long range tries by Leyland and Fogerty, and a fine individual effort by Lyon, Ruskin clinched victory with a late try by substitute Gordon Parr and a conversion by Harden.
