WHAT little troupers! The boys and girls of the Tiptoes Theatre Group wowed audiences at their spectacular variety show in aid of the Macmillan Windmill Appeal.

The Stars Into The Millennium show, which had audiences dancing in the aisles at Fleetwood's Marine Hall last week, raised £500 for the appeal.

The performance of songs, drama, illusion and dance was performed by cast members aged from five to 16.

It featured something for everyone with songs ranging from Copacabana to an Abba medley and country music.

If that was not enough the songs were interspersed with illusion acts and a comedy Austin Powers scene.

The performance of Prince's 1999 at the finale was greeted with a well deserved standing ovation.

Organiser Karen Hunter said: "The kids worked very hard rehearsing for the show but they loved it.

"I am very proud of how well they performed and it was great to raise so much money for the appeal too."

The show impressed the Victoria Hospital deputy director of fund raising, Elaine Fossett, who said: "I was involved in the theatre myself for many years and this was one of the most professional shows I have ever seen.

"It really was superb.

"Young people are often criticised but this shows what great work they can do.

"We have already passed the £50,000 mark and with more fund-raising efforts like this we should soon be well on our way to reach our target."
