PRESTON made no mistakes when it came to taking advantage of their second chance to move through to the third round of the FA Cup, beating Enfield 3-0.
After a couple of early scares, Preston soon found themselves dominating the game, but it wasn't until the second period was underway that North End finally had the net bulging, and it was golden oldie David Eyres who led the way.
On 52 minutes, a Julian Darby cross was tipped over for a corner. Graham Alexander, the set piece marvel, played the ball out to Eyres who smashed it home to send Preston's minute travelling support into raptures.
After 142 minutes of facing a battling Enfield side, Preston were ahead.
And there was no looking back eight minutes later when PNE were awarded a penalty after a Kurt Nogan shot was handled on the line by Lee Propheroe.
Not only did Alexander score, but Propheroe was dismissed, and Enfield inevitably conceded a third.
With eight minutes remaining, substitute Bjarki Gunnlaugsson scored his first senior goal since arriving in the UK when he picked up on a Sean Gregan pass, turning the ball exquisitely to get it past the Enfield keeper.
The win ensures PNE's passage to the third round of the FA Cup and a home tie against Oldham, admittedly, they aren't Arsenal but a win virtually guarantees a money-spinning tie in the fourth round. Anyone fancy Chelsea?
