WOMEN fleeing domestic violence are hoping for a brighter Christmas this year.
Bury Women's Aid, the charity which provide refuge for victims of domestic violence and their children, is appealing for people to help with their fund-raising efforts to make Christmas a happy one.
Mrs Jayne Nolan, refuge worker, said: "As you can imagine Christmas can be an extremely upsetting time to be away from your family and friends. The women and especially the children have left behind their personal belongings and toys.
"The children deserve fun and we are trying to make Christmas extra special with organised trips, parties and presents."
Whitefield hairdresser, Paul Freely will be donating proceeds from Bury fashion week held in October.
But the Bury-based charity still needs more and is trying to raise funds for the Christmas festivities.
If you would like to donate any cash or gifts write to PO Box Number 3, Manchester, M26 1GU.
If the gift is difficult to post you can write to the charity and they will arrange to pick it up.
