POLICE in St Helens recorded a total of 73 crimes involving burglary and theft of or from vehicles over the weekend from Friday, November 26 to Monday, November 29.
These included 15 house burglaries, 15 burglaries from garages and sheds, 15 thefts of vehicles and 28 thefts from vehicles which were recorded throughout the St Helens area.
DS Tommy Wright told the Star: "It is worth noting that of the 28 thefts from cars, 11 were targeted in Newton and nine of these in the Wargrave area so I would urge all motorists to make sure their vehicles are left secure and safe. Home owners should also be sensible and secure their homes, particularly with Christmas coming up when burglars know that expensive presents are likely to be stored there."
