LANCASTER MP Hilton Dawson directly challenged the prime minister about the government policy on pensions last week.
Mr Dawson - who is campaigning to increase the old age pension - reportedly criticised the government at a meeting of Labour MPs in London and has had a positive response from his colleagues.
The MP is organising a petition in support of the pensioners in the area. Already 1,500 people have signed. If you wish to add your name to the list signatures are being collected at the Help the Aged shop at 14, New Street in the city. The MP and his staff are also appealing to shops and individuals to offer to be collectors. There will also be an organising meeting about the campaign on Monday, December 6 at 10am. For more details call Mr Dawson's office on 380057.
