A CLAMPDOWN on irresponsible dog owners has led to a number of appearances at Lancaster Magistrates Court.
The city council has issued the names and details of residents who have been prosecuted for dog related offences.
Julie Stead of Morecambe, whose rottweiller seriously injured another dog, was ordered to pay £250 in fines and costs and more than £1,000 in veterinary bills.
Anne Mitchell of Galgate was given a court order insisting her black mongrel be kept on a lead at all times while on public land. She was ordered to pay £50 costs.
Mr Armer of Cockerham pleaded guilty after his dog attacked a person. The court imposed a £100 fine, £100 costs and ordered Mr Armer to pay £200 compensation.
An order was made against a lurcher owned by Valerie Howard of Lancaster insisting it be securely chained in the owner's garden and kept on a lead while in public areas.
A whippet owned by Candice Hunter of Lancaster was also ordered to be kept on a lead at all times in public areas.
The council has expressed its intention to clamp down on what it describes as irresponsible dog owners.
