A LAPTOP computer scheme for local communities is proving to be a major success.
Funded by the Government for adult and community learning, the scheme is being co-ordinated by St Helens Council's Family Learning Arts and Community Team and aims to teach basic computer skills and raise general awareness of the latest information technology.
The council hopes that the scheme will provide quality support for learners and be used as a regular feature in literacy and education.
Six laptop computers have been provided and were on show at a launch event at Parr Library in Parr High School where users were introduced to the latest technology.
Peter Street, New Street and Chain Lane community centres will each have a computer and three others are going into local libraries.
