A STATELY home and Jesuit school in East Lancashire are to be included in a book listing 300 historic properties grant-aided by English Heritage.
Browsholme Hall and Stonyhurst College, both near Clitheroe, are to be included in the millennium edition of Hudson's Historic Houses and Gardens.
English Heritage chairman Sir Jocelyn Stevens said more than £90million had been allocated in grants for the repair and restoration of Grade I and II-listed buildings, parks, gardens and ancient monuments.
"The public has a right to see how their money is being spent. Until this year, grant-aided establishments were obliged to advertise their public access arrangements, but now we will be doing it for them. We chose Hudson's, because it is the ideal medium for such information and widely available, for example every Tourist Information Centre in the country has a copy," he said.
Grant-aided buildings are expected to open to the public, without appointment, for a minimum of 28 days a year, for a period of 10 years. from payment of the grant.
