A MYSTERIOUSLY-named rock group containing former members of two of Manchester's finest bands is playing a one-off gig in Blackburn this week.

Pulse call reveal that the group, billed as L Lucan on fliers around the town, includes former Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, along with former members of The Smiths Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce.

Rourke and Joyce were involved in a bitter argument with former Smiths mainmen Morrissey and Johnny Marr over royalties. The dispute escalated years after the band split and ended in a court battle. Former session guitarist Aziz joined The Stone Roses after axeman John Squire quit.

He has since collaborated with the band's controversial frontman Ian Brown on his two solo albums, Unfinished Monkey Business and Golden Greats.

The gig takes place at the Cellar Bar, Blackburn, on Wednesday. The event is set to start at 8pm and go on until 11pm, and admission is free.

The venue, which recently re-opened under new management, has recently announced weekly free music events with a broad range of musical genres.

The nights, every Friday, include a dub and roots session, a drum 'n' bass night, a world music club and an indie evening.

Lord Lucan, the world's most famous man of mystery, was recently declared dead having been missing for 25 years.

He disappeared after the battered body of his children's nanny was discovered in the cellar of his house in London.
