WITH reference to John Blunt's remarks on food scandals, etc (LET, November 24), I was prompted to write about an article I received recently from Hillcrest Animal Sanctuary, founded by Wendy Valentyne, who also founded Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Norfolk.
I was horrified to read that it is still legal in this country to dispose of unwanted day-old male chicks by shredding them live.
Those tiny living creatures are surplus to requirements, so this cruel practice goes on.
This is just another example of intensive farming going mad.
