AEROSPACE firms are set to benefit from a top level meeting aimed at helping bring millions of pounds of orders to the UK.
The two day event being held in Athens is being chaired by Dennis Mendoros, head of the Nelson-based North West Aerospace Alliance. The event is aimed at strengthening links between the UK and Greece which has an estimated £10billion to spend on defence spending over the next five years.
"In recent years the Greek government has awarded very few contracts to UK companies but we have a lot to offer in terms of technology, products and value for money," said Mr Mendoros, who is of Greek origin.
"This symposium will explore how best to do business with Greece and we are confident that it will help open doors for UK defence suppliers."
Speakers at the event, organised by the UK Defence Manufacturers Association, include Peter Kilfoyle, the UK Under Secretary of State for Defence and Sir Robert Walmsley, chief of Defence Procurement.
