CONGRATULATIONS to Tony Parkes on his sterling work in rejuvenating the Rovers cause.
But why can't we see Matt Jansen included in the squad again?
He performed well in the reserves against a strong Liverpool side and was reported also last week to have said that he is still committed to Rovers.
Surely a young player like him should be encouraged to stay and not be the subject of constant press speculation that Manchester United, Arsenal, Rangers and others, are all interested in him. If these top clubs consider he is worth splashing out a few million on, it seems strange that there is no room for him in the Rovers squad. I say give him a chance as a sub for Egil Ostenstad - Nathan Blake has been used regularly since Parkes has been in charge without success, and that seems to have been the case again on Saturday against Port Vale when the commentator said he lacked the pace to trouble their defence.
Last week's form guide for Blake read "had little impact after coming on late as a sub. Matt has the pace and the skill to threaten a defence and surely it is about time that he was given another chance - Nathan's had his for the time being and not produced much, least of all goals. When did we last see him score? However on second thoughts, perhaps his final chance should be against his old club Bolton Wanderers tonight. I'm looking forward to a great game and three points for the Rovers!
