LOCAL companies are joining forces and going green to make savings.
A group of firms joined the first Carrs Industrial Estate Waste Minimisation Workshop at Groundwork Rossendale.
This was the first in a series of four events which are a follow-on from the Carrs Green Business Parks Feasibility Study which was undertaken earlier this year to see how the landscape of the industrial estate could be improved.
A start has now been made on implementing some of the recommendations from the study and the Groundwork Rossendale Environmental Task Force has already worked with several companies on the estate carrying out landscaping and other improvements.
Medex, J H Birtwistle, Warton Metal, T S Chemicals, Holchem, G E Capital and Flexipol Packaging are all involved in the scheme already and project officer Samantha Plumb is looking for other interested companies.
Trevor Boothman, business environment officer for Rossendale and Hyndburn, said: "By working closely together in a geographically compact area it is hoped that companies can not only make individual savings but also group savings."
