THE winners of a competition got star treatment when they switched on a light to dominate Blackburn's landscape over the Christmas period.
Anne and Bert Calvert, of Blackburn, won a contest organised by Thwaites Brewery to switch on the star on top of their town centre headquarters.
Entrants were asked to make a £1 donation to the Thwaites Millennium Appeal Committee which aims to raise £30,000 to pay for a minibus for the Help the Aged charity.
They also had to guess how high the star stands from the ground at its highest point and Anne and Bert Calvert of Parklands Way. Livesey, Blackburn, were the closest.
The couple guessed at 183 feet with the actual height being 187 feet.
