HONOURS were shared in this year cross country championships as three schools each picked up two overall winners titles.
Only St Wilfrid's managed to break the stranglehold as Westholme, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and St Bede's dominated the finals which were held at Witton Park.
However St Wilfrid's had the most success in the individual races, winning three of the six races.
While there were some impressive team performances, the team of the day had to be Westholme's year seven girls team who picked up the top three places in the individual race.
Anna Griffiths led the school home to triumph finishing in first place with fellow pupils Dominque Morton and Claire Kane in second and third place respectively.
In contrast, QEGS won the boys year seven category even though they did not have a runner in the top three.
Timothy Thompson of St Wilfrid's was crowned individual winner, beating St Bede's Jolyon Lowe into second place with Ashley Parillon, also of St Bede's, finishing third.
However there was team success for St Wilfrid's in the year eight and nine girls' finals thanks to a winning run by Rachel Holt.
Recently crowned UK under 12s fell running champion, Candy Hamilton of St Bede's finished in second place with Sarah Blackburn of Westholme was third.
The tables were turned in the boys year eight and nine final when QEGS scooped the top two places but missed out on the overall team title to St Bede's - who again did not have a runner in the top three.
Matthew Woods took first place with Mark Fletcher finishing as runner-up.
Darren Cotton of Pleckgate finished in third place to help his school to third place overall.
In the senior events of the day, Westholme picked up their second win of the day in the girls' year 10 and 11 race while St Bede's and QEGS were tied for first place in the boys race. However it was a different story in the individual races as none of the schools took first place.
In the girls race, St Wilfrid's Helen Leigh was first across the line with Lisa Richardson of Queen's Park High in second place. Carrie Hamilton of St Bede's finished in third place.
In the boys final, Daniel McKinley of Queen's Park High was first with Damien Pickup in runners-up spot.
Adeel Ahmed of Moorland High was in third place.
