I AM writing as a true Bury fan for many years, to express my regrets and apologies for the treatment Mr Warnock and his family received from what I am sure was a very small minority of Bury "fans". I was appalled to hear the story of the Internet message.

While I cannot pretend to agree with every decision Mr Warnock made while he was with the club, I am convinced that he worked very hard with the very best of intentions and very limited resources. Managing Bury was never going to be an easy task with the small crowds we draw on match days.

I would like to thank Mr Warnock for his efforts at the club and also for his consideration at Carrow Road, Norwich, last year when my son, Daniel, was mascot. He made Daniel's day when he took the time to talk to him.

All right-thinking Bury fans would wish Mr Warnock all the best in his new position at Bramall Lane. I hope a few idiots don't spoil some good memories from Gigg Lane (Bury 2 Bolton Wanderers 1).

CLIVE BEECH AND FAMILY,

Woodhill Road, Bury.
