LANCASHIRE was put on flood alert this week after torrential rain forced the River Ribble to swell its banks.
On Tuesday, heavy rain forced caused chaos in Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, as the river rose at Walton Bridge and flooded the football pitch at the bottom of London Road. Flood water experts put the area on Yellow Alert fearing heavy flooding would stretch to nearby Frenchwood.
In Chorley, Ronald Sale, 52, from Old School Lane, Euxton, cheated death after his car was crushed by a falling tree during last weeks storms.
