THE club championship at Lytham Chess Club is now well under way and most of the players have now completed two rounds.
Games have generally produced expected results, although Stephen Luck almost produced a major shock in his game against Doug Williams.
Williams just managed to win following an end game error by Luck.
In the league, the fourth and fifth teams drew their third division match 2-2.
The first team performed creditably in losing 4-2 to Preston first team, the strongest first division team.
Draws were achieved by John Cooper, Peter Mawett, Phil Raynor and Darren Jones. The second team were beaten 3-1 by Blackpool first, Kostas Domoras and Leo Ainsworth halving their games.
The third team beat Poulton thirds in the second division.
David Dawber and John Regan both scored overwhelming wins, while Peter Dirs settled for a draw in a superior position to secure the 2-1 result.
