A POULTON school has set up a unique fundraising club to help build a sports hall.
Baines School are appealing for people to join their Baines 2000 Club with the aim of raising £500,000.
And by joining the club, members will have the chance of winning prizes of up to £4,000.
Members will be expected to pay £5 a month or a lump sum of £60 during the year 2000.
For this they will be allocated a lucky number included in a monthly draw held on the last Friday of each month.
Members stand to win £1,000 each month from January to November with a final star prize of £4,000 in December.
In addition separate fundraising events will be held throughout the year, including a fun run at the school on Tuesday and the Baines Bowl and Disco next month.
Teacher Dianne Champion said: "We've lots of fundraising activities going on at the moment.
"All the children at the school are getting involved, from a planned concert to individuals making things that they sell at lunchtime.
"And we've set up the club which has been supported by parents, old boys and governors alike.
"Our old sports hall was built in the 1930s, so it is woefully inadequate at the moment.
"Hopefully by all the fundraising efforts that have and will be taking place we can reach the total."
