Carnforth 6 Ruskin Park 13 INJURIES to three of the regular first team pack meant Ruskin faced the long trip to Carnforth for this Lancashire Plate tie with some trepidation against opponents known to favour a forward-orientated game. But to a man, the side rose to the occasion. Although Stuart Fisher scored all his side's points with a try, two penalties and a conversion, every member of the side played his part in the victory with notable displays from Martin Swift and Geoff Parr in the forwards and Ben Mousley at full back. The second XV gained a 15-15 draw at Prescot. Gareth Burns and Steve Garvey scored the Ruskin tries, and Stuart Fisher, who played in both matches over the weekend, slotted over a penalty and a conversion. For Prescot, wing-forward Chris Leigh scored a try, a penalty and a conversion, with fellow flanker Daz Smith also being awarded a try. Number eight Graham Leigh was Prescot's man-of-the-match.
