AN ENTIRE building was stolen from a Lancaster city centre street last month - but nobody noticed for 22 days!
The large construction disappeared from Dallas Road sometime between Monday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 30.
Luckily at least one neighbour noticed the 130 feet by 40 feet metal frame construction had disappeared. The woman, who didn't wish to be named, laughed: "It was there one night when we went to bed and the next day it had vanished! They must have come and gone in the dead of night. They'll steal anything won't they?"
The incident will no doubt go down with the time in Liverpool when a whole street went missing in the dead of night - they burglars took up an entire street's tiles and paving stones before anyone realised.
Detectives believe the cheeky thieves stole the Lancaster building, worth £2,000, bit by bit. It was reported missing on Wednesday, December . Police want to talk to a gang of men seen acting suspiciously in the area towards the end of November. The six men were in a green coloured 4x4 vehicle on November 29 and 30.
A Lancaster police spokesman appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
She added: "This was on a busy road and somebody must have seen them. It's likely people thought they were builders. This is a serious crime and we urge anyone who knows anything about this to come forward."
The police can be contacted at Lancaster 63333.
