A NEW club in St Annes has hit the right note with the town's music lovers.
The St Annes Acoustic Roots Club was formed two months ago to encourage local music and songwriting talent.
And organisers have been overwhelmed by the strength of talent on offer.
The club hold open sessions and concerts each Wednesday at 8.30pm in the Tiles bar at the Town House, St Annes, and anyone is welcome to bring along a guitar to the sessions which are free, although a small fee is charged if there is a featured artist.
A programme of concerts has been arranged up to the end of January featuring various local artists.
Club organiser Sue Arrow said: "We are delighted with the amount of local talent that is coming to light.
"So far the club has been visited by at least seven original songwriters, all from the St Annes area.
"Although old folk stalwarts are very much welcome there has also been a very good response from young enthusiasts.
"It is for people who like to play music, sing, tell jokes, write songs or just love listening to music."
The club is hosting a concert by local female duo Scold's Bridle on December 15 starting at 8.30pm.
Their repertoire includes a mix of traditional and contemporary songs and they have featured on radio with their songs about the wives of Fleetwood fishermen.
Admission is £3 and £1.50 for concessions.
