I AM amazed at the euphoria of such-like as Cllr Jarvis over the refurbishment of Church Street gardens and the Cenotaph.
It is to their everlasting shame that Leigh councillors should hang their heads for ever allowing the gardens to deteriorate to the disgusting state they were in. They must clap their hands at the basement standards Leigh's electorate accept.
While agreeing with the British Legion President, re the numbers of scouts, guides and juniors who turned out to parade, I'm afraid their bedraggled appearance, and that of their leaders, was a disgrace to the memory of those whom they were there to honour. They were unable to walk together in an orderly manner, not helped I admit, when one band is the sole source of encouragement.
It was first attendance for many years, and definitely my last. It was a shambles and a disgrace to Leigh.
