GOLBORNE Business Partnership would like to respond to the letter from Mrs Susan Newman (December 2).
If someone wants to make a personal attack on a member of this group we would expect they would first of all acquaint themselves with all the facts.
Contrary to Mrs Newman's statement Mr Franzen is a resident of Golborne town centre and is well aware of the traffic problems for residents. Many of our members are Golborne residents.
Mrs Newman's letter states "we would gladly welcome this if the Council makes it residents' parking only and puts speed lines in the street to slow traffic".
This is exactly what we have suggested.
Our proposal states "resident parking would be provided on one side of Charles Street" and calls for "the development and implementation of traffic calming measures including traffic cameras, speed ramps and other measures as may be necessary."
We believe the present chaotic situation is unsatisfactory, particularly for the residents.
We have requested the local councillors to arrange for a feasibility study by traffic management specialists to determine the best solution with the views and interests of residents being paramount.
P.R. FRANZEN
Chairman
Golborne Business Partnership
