LANCASTER and Wyre MP Hilton Dawson met the Prince of Wales yesterday (Dec 8) to show his support for the Prince's Trust.

He travelled to Lancaster House, London, as part of a three-strong cross party group invited to talk to Prince Charles about their impressions of the work of The Prince's Trust.

Mr Dawson said: "I am involved with the Prince's Trust at a local level, and also at a national level where the organisation is represented on the children and young people in care group I chair in Parliament.

"This was the first time I have met Prince Charles to air my views and the point I wanted to get across is that I think the work of this organisation is invaluable.

"My impression is that the trust has a very important role to play in the development of young people's lives with its work among unemployed young people.

"It comes at them from a different angle than the local councils and other organisations, promoting the importance of business entrepreneurs, and I think that's an effective way of communicating with youngsters.

"And this was reflected in the last meeting I had with young people who were keen to involve the Prince's Trust in setting up a non-alcoholic bar in the region.

"I hope the valuable work of the Prince's Trust continues, particularly in the Lancaster and Wyre region, because I think if the views of young people are properly supported in a constructive way, rather than ignored, then they can take on the world."
