West Sutton 10 Pilkington Recs 28 RECS stepped up their challenge for the Division One title by completing a league double in this derby clash.
West Sutton produced a spirited display but were outgunned by a visiting side who made the most of their chances.
West Suttonenjoyed most of the early territorial advantage, but Recs had early chances ruled out for both Andy Traverse and wingman Dave Archer.
The homesters took advantage of some slack defending to take the lead on 20 minutes, when stand-off Jones plunged over from a play-the-ball.
This seemed to sting Recs into action. Following good work from full-back Chris Hillam, second row men John Rees collected a long pass and did well to hold off two defenders before scoring. Scrum-half Alan Fletcher added the conversion.
Five minutes later Recs were over again courtesy of good, quick play and stand-off Andy Kilmurray plunged over. Fletcher converted.
Rees couldn't stay out of the action, and soon after with the homesters attacking he caught a kick through and strolled 70 metres to score his second try. Fletcher's third goal gave Recs an 18-4 interval lead.
West Sutton began the second half as they did the first, on the attack but they were unable to break a solid visiting defence in which second row man Ady Beard featured with a massive tackle count.
As the match was locked at stalemate Recs skipper Craig Burrows put the game totally out of reach on 18 minutes when following a good break from Traverse, he helped himself to a try from acting half-back. Burrows added the conversion himself.
Recs scored again on 25 minutes. Good approach work from Dave Price and Beard saw Traverse take two defenders over the try line in the corner.
In the final stages prop forward McCabe registered a consolation try for the homesters, to which Stubbs added the conversion.
For Recs the Specialist Fireplace Supplied man of the match was Ady Beard for his tireless effort. Forwards Ian Connolly, John Rees and Shaun Allen also worked hard, while Chris Hillam caught the eye in the backs. Pilkington Recs A 18
