HIGH flyers travelling from Blackpool Airport are being warned not to pop home for a quick cuppa.
The airport discovered some passengers who checked in early had set off home to put the kettle on because they had an hour to spare before take off.
But airport managing director Garry Eastwood is asking those passengers to follow the example of the majority who are content to bide their pre-departure time in the airport lounge, buffet or bar.
And he warns travellers if they do leave the terminal they may not be allowed to fly.
He said: "We were startled to find after picking up boarding cards for a holiday flight some passengers strolled home again for a cup of tea.
"This is definitely against all the rules.
"People whose baggage has been accepted for a flight are then legally obliged to remain at the airport until their aircraft is ready to leave.
"Blackpool Airport is perhaps unique.
"Many people who fly from here live within walking distance, or perhaps just a few minutes drive away.
"Other airports are generally far removed from the big residential area and it is very unlikely anyone would think of nipping back home after checking in at Gatwick or Manchester because they would simply be too far away.
"Passengers should book in for their flight and then sit back and relax.
"We have a very comfortable airport with every modern facility."
