HAVING replaced the former Ladies Guild, the local fund-raising branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution has quickly takenup position at 'action stations!'
For they are busy organising the first big event in their Millennium calendar, a concert by Haydock Male Voice Choir, to be held at St Helens Town Hall on Saturday, January 22, from 7.30pm.
The event will be sponsored by chartered accountants, C. A. Hunter, while the mayor, Councillor Pat Jackson, and MPs, Gerry Bermingham and Dave Watts have been invited to attend.
Raffle prizes in aid of the RNLI, which is entirely supported by voluntary donations, have been donated by Hair Design, Claughton Street; Sutton Timber company; Wilkinsons store; Dial-a-Frame picture service; and Richmond and Rigg Photography.
Tickets, price £3, are available from Webster's stationers; Blackburn's confectioners; the Pets Emporium; Hayes' newsagents; Scissors hairdressers; and C. A. Hunter.
