FORMER England cricket captain Mike Brearley, BBC Philharmonic conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier and sociologist Prof Martin Trow were awarded honorary degrees at Lancaster University this week. Mike Brearley captained both Middlesex and England and is now a psychoanalyst and lecturer on leadership and motivation.
Yan Pascal Tortelier is principal conductor with the BBC Philharmonic, Orchestra-in-Residence at Lancaster University and a guest conductor with orchestras throughout the world. Prof Martin Trow from the University of California is known as the originator of the conceptual model of elite mass higher education.
