EAST Lancashire's power supply will benefit from a £6 million investment to make it more reliable for customers in Blackburn, Burnley, Nelson and Colne.
A three-year project to replace six miles of electricity cables and improve the system between Padiham and Blackburn will be completed this month.
Norweb's engineers have been working to improve reliability in the area since Padiham power station closed and are now finishing rebuilding the 132,000 volt overhead line between Padiham and Blackburn.
Alan Jones, Norweb Distribution's grid and primary system manager, said: "It's a credit to everyone involved with this project that work will be completed on time and to such a high standard. Our team has worked with a great deal of enthusiasm to ensure that customers receive the best possible service and reliability of the supply."
The £6 million project is part of a larger programme of improvements planned for the next five years.
