ROVERS fans will get the chance to see the likes of Lee Carsley, Jason McAteer, and Damien Duff live on international duty over the next couple of seasons thanks to a new TV deal.
Sky Sports have signed a three-year deal with the Football Association of Ireland to show all of the Republic's home internationals until the end of the 2001-2 season.
The deal includes all home World Cup qualifying games against Holland, Portugal, Cyprus, Andorra and Estonia and next year's US Cup tournament, which will feature the United States, South Africa and Mexico.
The coverage begins with the friendly against the Czech Republic on February 23 next year.
FORMER Rovers winger Harry McShane was a special guest at Manchester United's Champions League clash with Valencia on Wednesday.
McShane is also a former Red and he helped out the Old Tarfford club with the half time draw.
Now 79, McShane was on Rovers books between 1937 and 1946 although he mainly played in the reserves at Ewood.
He is also the father of film actor Ian McShane who appeared in the hit TV series Lovejoy.
ROVERS Youth team will find out on Monday who they play in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Rob Kelly's young lions booked their place after a stunning 6-0 victory against Essex outfit Hullbridge Sports Youth. There are no games next Saturday.
ROVERS reserves are in action on Monday night when they take on Sunderland at New Ferens Park.
The match kicks off at 7pm. As yet, no new date has been fixed for this week's postponed game against Everton.
A CHEQUE for £800 is winging its way to Lancaster for the second successive week after the latest Rovers Return draw.
Last week, A Worrall bagged first prize at the Stockport County game.
This week, the same person then repeated the feat with number 028250 at the Bolton match to take their total prize money to £1600.
Add that to the six points picked up from the two home games and it's turned out to be an early Christmas for one lucky Rovers fan.
Meanwhile, ticket number 029727 won the second prize of a Swtach watch.
And number 035038 won an autographed ball.
As yet, both prizes remain unclaimed.

TICKETS for the game at Portsmouth on December 28 are on sale, priced £13 for adults and £6 concessions. All tickets are in the Milton Road Stand, behind the goals.
