REIGNING British 125 champion Darren Barton has clinched a deal to contest the 250 class next year.
The Hoddlesden rider, who won the championship in a last-round thriller at Donington Park in September, will continue with the Keighley-based Colin Appleyard Racing/Helphire Bike Assist team.
"I can't wait to get cracking. I've achieved everything I can in the 125 class and this is a great opportunity for me to prove myself on a new stage," said Barton.
And his boss, former Grand Prix rider Robin Appleyard is equally enthusiastic about Barton's move up the ladder.
"We have the backing of Honda UK for the 125 and 250, so we will be looking to retain the 125 title and take the 250 crown with Darren."
Barton's seat in the 125 championship will be taken by Irishman Kenny Robinson.
