A THOROUGHLY entertaining first round of the Cup saw Darwen having the better of the first half and going in at half time 2-0 up.
They quickly made it three at the start of the second half, but from then on it was Whalley who dominated. Man of the match Adam Brown pulled a goal back almost immediately and then Joe Cross hit the bar with a tremendous strike. Whalley continued attacking, but were thwarted by the Rangers keeper. A very good team performance by the Pumas against table-toppers Darwen with everyone playing well.
EDENFIELD 2 WHALLEY UNDER 15s 2
IF Edenfield were expecting an easy game against Whalley Under 15s after last week's 6-1 beating of them, they couldn't have been more wrong.
It was Whalley who dominated the game from the start, but were unlucky to be behind 1-0 at the break. Whalley continued to boss the game and were rewarded when Will Cross hit a fine shot from the edge of the box to equalise. Ten minutes later Jamie Barnes deservedly gave Whalley the lead after a David Mercer cross.
Though Whalley had a man sent off, they still created chances and should have increased their lead with both Steven Wynne and Jamie Barnes going close. In the last minute, Edenfield equalised, then they also had a man sent off. But Whalley fully deserved their point and Will Cross was man of the match.
