THE young Clarets went five points clear at the top of the Lancashire League with this comfortable victory.
Player of the match Lisa Thompson used her pace to beat the Morecambe keeper from 15 yards, and after hitting the crossbar and post, Danielle Cooper added a second.
The third came from a Thompson corner when Sarah Halsall scored from a Sam Cooke knock-on. Stephanie Meeks scored the fourth direct from a free kick, and the fifth came on the stroke of half time courtesy of a Cooper strike.
In the second half Cooke scored twice to make it 7-0. Meeks then hit the target three times, completing her hat trick in the process with a net-bursting shot. Cooper soon completed her hat trick before Holly Pointon, got on the scoresheet with a superbly executed 25-yard drive.
Cooper scored again at the near post from a Louise Simpson pass. Sarah Halsall hit the 14th, brilliantly lobbing the keeper from 20 yards. Amy Bamber, quickly reacting to a loose ball, beat the busy Morecambe keeper from 12 yards. Cooper scored her fifth chipping the keeper from 25 yards. The 17th and final goal came from Meeks, who capped a fine performance with her fifth of the game. To Morecambe's credit they never stopped battling, but Burnley keeper Catherine Beaver was never troubled.
Burnley squad: Beaver, Millar, Leyland, Hartley, Cooke, Pointon, Chedotal, Halsall, Meeks, Cooper, Thompson. Subs: Brown, Simpson, Bamber.
