JUDGES were forced to halt cases at Burnley Crown Court after a major disturbance in the cells.
Police were called to help security officers from Group 4 after the incident began, at around 2pm yesterday.
Barristers and judges heard banging and shouting coming from the cells underneath the court as they waited for order to be restored.
Four men who were due to appear had their cases adjourned and were taken to Burnley police station for questioning.
Court business was held up for more than an hour-and-a-half and the court ran late into the evening to try and deal with cases which had been held up.
A Burnley police spokesman said four men who had been in the custody of Group 4 security, were still being held and questioned at the police station today.
