HYNDBURN Council is trying to promote safety awareness over the millennium by issuing a warning to landlords and club owners to ensure their premises are not overcrowded.
It said that allowing more than the specified number of people into licensed premises is a breach of licensing conditions and could lead to fines for offenders.
Chairman of the licensing sub-committee Coun Sandra Hayes said: "We do not want to detract from anyone's enjoyment of the millennium celebrations in Hyndburn but that enjoyment must include the knowledge that their safety has not been compromised."
