ON A day when Stanley received the UniBond First Division club of the month award for November, two goals in the opening ten minutes made it two league wins out of two in December.
The Reds, in front of their second largest home crowd of the season, 437, immediately went on the attack. In the second minute, Steve Hollis won the ball just outside the Ossett penalty area and struck a fierce left foot shot just over the crossbar.
Accrington took the lead in the fourth minute when a long clearance from Jamie Speare bounced over the Ossett defence and goalkeeper Jonathan Scargill failed to collect the ball and Reds player/manager John Coleman took the ball round the keeper to score his ninth goal of the season.
Two minutes later and it was 2-0, Karl Bell made a good tackle, John Doolan then played a superb ball through to Steve Carragher, who beat the Ossett offside trap and fired the ball beyond Scargill to also net his ninth goal of the campaign.
Stanley almost added a third goal on eight minutes when Carragher found Gary Williams who beat one defender but fired his shot over the bar. The Reds were totally in control and on 14 minutes Williams sped down the right wing, crossed to the near post to Carragher whose header was saved by Scargill.
Ossett's first scoring chance came four minutes later when their leading scorer Scott Jackson hit a shot on the turn over the Stanley crossbar. Jackson came close again on 22 minutes, latching on to a Simon Woodhead corner but Speare got down well.
After 27 minutes, from a Reds free kick, Coleman took the free kick and found Carragher whose glancing header came back off the far post. Man of the match Carragher almost scored again on 36 minutes, Mark Shirley's corner kick was flicked on by Coleman and Carragher hit a close range shot that was blocked by Scargill.
Five minutes from the break Scargill made the save of the match when he brilliantly turned away a thunderbolt shot from Williams.
The second half was played in torrential rain and Ossett were thrown a lifeline on 56 minutes when they pulled a goal back. Speare failed to hold a ball and Woodhead was on hand to score.
Carragher found Williams after 67 minutes and he crossed to Baxter who saw his first time shot saved by Scargill. Nine minutes from time Ossett almost grabbed an equaliser, Simon Fuller's cross found Jackson, who played the ball back to former Stanley player Noel Horner whose fierce shot was well saved by Speare.
Ossett finished the game with 10 men when their player/manager Brook was was ordered off after picking up two yellow cards in as many minutes.
