SUMMIT Foods, the Bamber Bridge-based producer of frozen sausages, burgers and hand-held microwaveable snacks, has been awarded the Higher Level European Food Safety Inspection Standard at both its plants.
Vanessa Sutcliffe, group technical manager, said: "The EFSIS standard now includes all the requirements of the British retail Consortium and the new higher level means that both our sites comply with all 36 sections of the requirement at both foundation and higher level.
"We are all committed to achieving the very highest standards of product quality and safety and our achievement reflects the dedication of our workforce who are delighted to be acknowledged by this award."
Established in 1981, Summit Foods markets its products under the "Snacksters" and "Snack-in" labels, while producing a wide range of own-brand products for key multiple retailers, catering wholesalers and food service accounts.
