A MILLENNIUM tree will be planted at the site of Lumb's Millennium Green on Wednesday.
The tree will be one of the special features of the site, being developed as an open space for all to use by villagers.
Pupils from Water County Primary School will also be visiting the site to plant oak seedlings from acorns collected from the green and elsewhere in Rossendale.
The Millennium Green project is being backed by the Millennium Commission and the Countryside Agency.
The scheme has just been awarded a £10,000 grant from the Lancashire Environmental Fund and Rustic Craft of Lumb has donated a number of benches for the site at reduced cost.
Anyone wanting to help with the project should contact Julie Wickington at Groundwork Rossendale on 01706 211421.
