FIRMS across Blackburn have volunteered their services to make Christmas a brighter and more enjoyable time for people in need.
More than 25 different companies, ranging from wallpaper manufacturer Graham and Brown to administrators from Blackburn College, have participated in Gtech and Europrint's Employee Involvement Scheme. Charities have benefited in numerous ways thanks to the generosity of local employees.
The emphasis has been on time rather than money and has led to charities being offered help such as organised parties, hampers, Christmas presents and toys for disadvantaged children and trips to watch pantomimes and football matches.
Scheme Co-ordinator Wendy Hobson said: "A thank you event was held at Blackburn Arena and representatives of the various charitable and voluntary groups helped during the campaign were able to meet and express their appreciation to the companies involved."
Any firm wanting further information about ways in which they can help good causes can contact Wendy Hobson on 01254 661166.
A new campaign will be launched early in the millennium.
