GOALS from Ronnie Jepson and Alex Kevan extended Burnley's unbeaten Pontins League run to seven games as they overcame third-placed Huddersfield at Turf Moor last night.

Jepson put the Clarets ahead after 20 minutes when he made the most of good work from Chris Scott to convert the full-back's cross.

And the home side almost doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Lenny Johnrose headed a Paul Smith free-kick against the bar.

Anthony Shandran then shot straight at Huddersfield keeper Martyn Margetson before the Terriers, on the back foot following a lively start, were denied a possible equaliser by Chris Brass's excellent tackle on Thai international Kiatisuk Senamuang.

Jepson, Johnrose and Paul Weller were withdrawn after 50 minutes and Kevan, leading scorer in the youth team this season, made the most of his chance when he headed home Burnley's second on the hour.

Margetson again denied Shandran with a fine save but 15 minutes from time Huddersfield pulled one back when former Blackburn Rovers winger George Donis teed up substitute Delroy Facey to score.

That prompted a late Town flurry in search of an equaliser, but Burnley held out to record their third win of the season and move into mid-table in the Premier Division.

Burnley: Mawson, Scott, Cowan, Brass, Heywood, Johnrose (Devenney 50), Weller (Kelly 50), Jepson (Kevan 50), Shandran, Robertson, Smith.
