DIVISION Four leaders New Era Res look to have the Hyndburn League championship in their grip with an emphatic 10-0 whitewash over Dash, Matthew and Daniel Huntingdon, ably assisted by Shazad, were far too good for the opposition.
Whalley entertained Dash and won 9-1, Des Logan and Eric Ronnan the unbeaten duo for the village side. Second-placed Springhill had a close 6-4 win over Baxenden for whom Trevor Greenwood kept his 100 per cent record.
Burracs are back to winning ways with a comprehensive 8-2 victory over third-placed Hollands in Division One, Barry Hall, Bernard Caine and Roger Whewell the winning trio. Burracs played host to East Lancs and drew 5-5, Ian Haworth for the Cricketers had three superb wins. Colin Wilson defeated Barry Hall 21-23, 22-20, 21-13 in a tremendous match.
Old Masters defeated New Era 7-3 with Chris Byrne unbeaten for the losers. Matt Harrison took maximum points for Royal Mail in an epic 5-5 draw with Hollands. Noel Duffy and Mark Hanson won two each for the Piemen. Allspeeds whitewashed Haslingden CC 10-0, Ged Simpson, Keith Jackson and Phil Blake were the winning trio.
In Division Two, leaders Standen Hall played two matches this week, firstly they crushed Mixed 8-2. Stuart Thompson, David Bolland and captain Don Eastwood in impressive form. They then played host to Raiders and ran out 8-2 winners. Allspeeds Reserve had a close 5-5 draw with Shahsmen, Peter Grihault the man in form for them, unbeaten on the night.
Second-placed Rovers beat SAS 10-0, Mark Gleave, Kris Seed and Steve Lyons doing the damage for the victors. Kay Street, with Trevor Elkington in full flow, could only share the points 5-5 with SAS. Temple Street had a similar scoreline against Mixed. Frank Rowland the man in form. In Division Three, leaders Hustlers were outclassed by Antley Church 7-3. Keith Potts with three superb wins for the Church side. Bottom club Razor Blades were defeated 6-4 by Casuals. Stanhill are the team in form with an 8-2 home win over Three Bs. Tim Whittaker and Nigel Penberthy the unbeaten duo. Shahsmen Reserves' home clash with Antley resulted in a 7-3 win for the hosts, with Fred Holding and Chris Booth winners. Second-placed Harlequins, with Danny Chamberlain and Andy Lewis in excellent form, defeated Three Bs 7-3.
