CRIME in the Brunshaw area of Burnley has been cut to its lowest level for two years, say police.
They say recent initiatives against juvenile nuisance and criminal damage in particular have cut overall crimes in the district to less than one per day - with only four burglaries over a six-week period.
The news follows a clamp-down by officers following meetings with residents and councillors who spoke of residents living in fear.
Acting Inspector Mark Gray said there had been just 26 crimes in Brunshaw over the last six weeks, as police used a number of crime-busting initiatives including targeting known offenders.
Said Mr Gray: "Although crime rates have plummeted, residents should know we will not abandon the area or the techniques which have proved successful."
He said police hoped to continue to work closely with householders, the local authority and courts to combat crime and disorder.
