WE read with interest Graham Riding's request (Letters, December 7) for information on opening arrangements for pubs in the Blackburn area on New Year's Eve,

Our pub, the Feilden's Arms at Mellor Brook, along with many other "local" pubs, will be open for the millennium celebrations to thank our loyal customers for their valued custom over the years.

The drinks will be at normal prices and we have clubbed together with other local businesses to offer a Jacob's join for all our customers.

We have also made available a partially-completed restaurant extension in order to give additional space for the celebrations to be enjoyed to the full.

We, like many other local pubs, value our customers and see the celebrations as a way to thank them rather than to take advantage, unlike those others who are not so in touch with their regulars.

RICHARD AND ANGIE TODD, Feilden's Arms, Whalley Road, Mellor Brook.
